That was such a sad moment in the movie.
It was like he had the spark of hope to be like Thor, to be a strong and “real” son of Odin, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn´t.
And then he realizes that this was indeed Thor´s hammer, the one Odin gave to him and he looks up to his father and knows how much he´s not his son.
